This policy explains how Heading 067 Advisory uses generative artificial intelligence. Heading 067 Advisory is a d/b/a of Heading 067 LLC, and Michael Thom performs the advisory work directly.

The principle

AI can help run Heading 067 Advisory, but it does not perform the advisory work. It is a supporting tool—not the source of the practice’s judgment, recommendations, relationships, or accountability.

For this policy, generative AI means systems that create or materially transform text, images, audio, code, or analysis in response to instructions or supplied information. Ordinary software functions such as deterministic automation, spelling checks, formatting, accessibility testing, and security scanning are outside this definition when they do not generate or materially alter substantive client content.

Where AI may assist

AI may assist with limited business operations such as website development and testing, marketing drafts, general research using public sources, sales preparation using public or nonconfidential information, and routine administration.

Any material prepared with AI assistance for the business is treated as a draft. Michael selects, verifies, edits, and approves what is ultimately used or published.

Client work remains human

Generative AI is not used to create, revise, summarize, analyze, or otherwise produce substantive client deliverables or the client-specific analysis behind them.

Client recommendations, findings, working judgments, and deliverable content are developed and reviewed by Michael. AI is not used as a decision-maker and does not communicate with clients as though it were Michael.

Confidentiality and information handling

Client-confidential, proprietary, regulated, or sensitive information is not submitted to general-purpose generative AI systems. This boundary applies to source documents, working notes, meeting records, drafts, system data, and other client-specific materials—not only to final deliverables.

Information submitted through the website contact form is not intentionally submitted to a general-purpose generative AI system or used to train an AI model. Business uses of AI are limited to information appropriate for that purpose and should use the minimum information reasonably necessary.

Human review and responsibility

AI output is treated as unverified. Facts, sources, calculations, claims, intellectual-property considerations, and tone are reviewed as appropriate before business use.

Michael remains responsible for the practice’s work, communications, and decisions regardless of whether a supporting business tool was used along the way.

Engagements involving AI

A client may ask Heading 067 Advisory to help evaluate an AI-enabled product or decision. Limited use of the technology may be necessary in that kind of engagement, but the purpose, tool, permitted information, and handling requirements will be agreed in writing before testing begins.

Public, synthetic, or specifically approved nonsensitive information will be preferred for evaluation. The resulting assessment, recommendation, and client deliverable will remain human-authored.

Review and questions

AI tools and their terms change. Heading 067 Advisory will review this policy periodically and update it before making a material change to these public commitments.
